Easy Playdough Recipe

First Batch of the School Year!

Children love play dough, and we use it often in the classroom- but I find the store bought kind dries up quickly and we go through it so fast! So we make our own- I made a small batch this weekend for classes next week and will be sending out the recipe and a call for volunteer parents to make fresh batch every couple of weeks. See below for the recipe! 🙂

  • 2 cups of flour
  • 2 tbs of vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup of salt
  • 2 tbsp cream of tartar (this helps the play dough to last longer, so it’s important!)
  • 1.5 cups of boiling water
  • food coloring
  1. Mix flour, salt, cream of tartar and oil in a large bowl
  2. Add food colouring to boiling water, then mix it into the dry ingredients
  3. Stir until blended
  4. Allow to cool down, then knead it well until it becomes a dough texture
  5. Put into a ziplock bag or a tupperware container.

And that’s it! 🙂
